Three points picked up at Les Comes (0-2)
Sònia de Alba
Barça Sorli Discau remains top of the OK League after picking up three points from a hard-fought game against Igualada with goals by Borregán and Masoliver.
The roller hockey side dedicated their win at Les Comes to second coach Sergi Macià, who was absent
after his father Ramon Macià, an ex-Barça player, passed away on Thursday.
Barça defended solidly against a lively Proinosa Igualada attack. Goals by Borregán in the
first half and Masoliver in the last minute of the game kept them on top of the OK League, but the
Barça captain got his marching orders late on with a straight red card.
Building pressure
Both Proinosa Igualada and Barça Sorli Discau came out all guns blazing and keepers Albert
Balagué and Aitor Egurrola had their work cut out. Edu Fernández, who was always dangerous, and
Alberto Borregán put them to the test.
Beto opens the scoring
It was the Barça captain who scored the first goal. With numerical superiority on the
counterattack (Sergi Panadero had fallen with two home players previously) David Páez flicked the
ball behind his back to Lluís Teixidó who picked out Borregán on the other side of the court. Beto
calmly flicked the ball past Balagué.
Right after the goal Jordi Creus accidentally received a blow in the face from
Borregán’s stick, but the referees took no action much to the disgust of the home crowd.
Upping the tempo
Neither side would take a backward step, and the chances flew thick and fast though some
exceptional play did not lead to any more goals.
Yet both sides almost scored on several occasions. One of the best chances fell to Masoliver
on the break but his shot hit the post and then the bar.
The teams went into the break with Barça still a goal to the good. On the restart the game
was just as intense as before halftime.
A collision between Panadero and Marc Navarro meant the Igualada player needed medical
treatment after hitting the courtside board and hurting his arm.
Borregán sees red
Igualada continued to pressurise Egurrola’s goal but the visitor’s goaltender
kept everything out.
Things took a turn for the worse for Barça Sorli Discau when Alberto Borregán got a red card
for arguing with the referees and had to watch the end of the game from the dressing room tunnel.
Right to the end
The game continued to be played at 100 mph but the clock was ticking down and in the last
minute Miquel Masoliver made it 0-2 as Barça ran out winners and remain leaders of the OK League.
