Super champions (3-4)
Sònia de Alba
Barça Sorli Discau have beaten Noia Freixenet in the second leg of the Spanish roller hockey super cup. They came back from 2-0 down as Noia made an attempt to make up for their first leg deficit, It is Barça’s fourth title.
With Alberto Borregán out through injury, Barça Sorli Discau sought to win their forth of the five
Super Cups played to date, but Noia made a major effort to prevent that.
Swords locked
Barça’s big win in the first leg didn’t seem to
affect the way the sides approached the game. Joan Feixas and David Cáceres immediately led the
pressure on Egurrola’s goal.
De Moya was also on form, but the Noia stopper mainly benefited from some poor Barça
shooting, Carlos López hitting the post from just a metre out in the 8th minute.
Feixas scores, and Selva makes it 2-0
Seven minutes later Feixas beat Aitor Egurrola with a clever
move, yet despite Quim Paüls calling for his first time out, the goal did nothing to change the
shape of the game.
His plan was for all-out attack, but none of Carlos López, Mia Ordeig or Miquel Masoliver
managed to get the goal they wanted.
Then on the counter, Eloi Mitjans was cut down, and Carlitos saw how Aleix Esteller broke
down a brilliant Barça Sorli Discau one-two. And then against the run of play Noia went 2-0 up
through Josep Maria Selva, which is how it stayed until the break.
Going all out for it
Ferran López managed to transmit all of his energy into the Sant Sadurní based side and what
followed was a series of terrific plays, though this time Egurrola was at hand to prevent any
further scoring.
Noia, led by the excellent Feixas and Cabestany, were on top, but their morale took a knock
when Mia Ordeig opened the scoring for Barça to make it 6-3 on aggregate.
Then the title was put beyond reach by a Sergi Panadero goal off a Lluís Teixidó assist in
the 35th minute, and Mia Ordeig then added another to make it 3-2.
Barça take title
Noia Freixenet kept going but the three Barça goals had knocked the win out of them. Barça
also kept plugging away, and Carlos López slammed home a powerful drive that Moya was powerless to
stop. That made it 4-2.
Feixas pulled one back from the penalty spot to make it 3-4, but there was time for no more,
and despite an early scare with Noia’s two goals, the title had never looked like slipping
away from FC Barcelona.
