Reus win at the Palau (2-4)
Sònia de Alba
Despite an excellent Aitor Egurrola, Tecnol Reus have beaten Barça Sorli Discau. It was all-square at half time, but Reus took their chances in the second half.
With Vic beating Liceo, Barça squandered a great chance today and Reus’ win now means they
are the new joint leaders. The sides showed plenty of respect for each other early on, perhaps too
much, until Marc Gual opened the scoring for the visitors and some great keeping from Aitor
Egurrola made sure they didn’t add a second.
Further woes when Alberto Borregán went off with an injured hand in an
incident that led to a penalty that Mia Ordeig failed to convert. After failing on nineteen scoring
attempts, Barça finally equalised through Reinaldo García, and the half ended 1-1.
Critical moments
The second half began with Xavi Caldú putting the visitors in front again, and with Barça
desperate not to give away a tenth foul, Gual stepped up to make it 1-3. Barça made three changes,
but when Nalo missed the second penalty of the day, it clearly just wasn’t their day.
Reus make it four
Barcelona were in trouble, and when Caldú made it four, it was game over. Borregán managed to
pull one back to make it 2-4, but there were only six minutes left, and just not enough time to
right the wrong.
