www.fcbarcelona.cat
On January 30, the vice president of FC Barcelona, Alfons Godall, inaugurated the new headquarters of the Penya Barcelonista Coma-ruga’95. Senator and president Josep Maldonado invited a number of dignitaries from the Barça and sporting world.
Around two hundred supporters club members joined the Penya Barcelonista Coma-ruga’95 on
such a special day, when they inaugurated the new place where they will watch Barça games. It is a
cosy
venue that includes a
number of Barça treasures, most of which were kindly by former players.
FC Barcelona was represented by its senior vice president, Alfons Godall, and by former
player, Julio Alberto Moreno. Godall cut the ribbon in the company of the host club’s
president, Josep Maldonado, the mayor of El Vendrell, Benet Jané and Elisabet Cardoner and Emma
Gamper, granddaughters of Nicolau Casaus and Joan Gamper respectively. The religious blessing was
performed by Father Jordi Barenys.
Alfons Godall thanked the club for the welcome he had received and said it filled him with
pride to be able to share this day with so many people of Coma-ruga. After the speeches, Josep
Maldonado, showed the guests around their new home, which from now on will be the place where the
members will be able to witness so many Barça successes.
Music and thanks
Coma-ruga breathes Pau Casals in all four corners and the supporters wanted to express this
when the local School of Music, conducted by Carlota Baldrich, performed the melody that Casals did
so much to popularise, ‘El Cant dels Ocells’. Two children from the school then played
the Barça anthem on the violoncello and oboe. And an occasion like this was not to be missed by the
Barça trumpeter. Rudy Ventura played a series of Barça related tunes to add even more emotion to a
delightful day.
The club also recognised the work of several of its members and various people who had helped
with the development of the new centre by presenting gifts.
Well known faces
The many guests included some members of the Agrupació Barça Veterans. There was a host of
former Barça stars in attendance: Bakero, De la Cruz, Seguer, Manchón, Celdrán, Sadurní, Mora,
Zuviría, Estella, Vinyals and Herrera. Other famous faces from the world of sport included Jordi
Gonzalvo, Juan de Dios Carrasco, Sergi Albert, Rojas and Àlex Olivé.
