Nine meetings in one month

This last month has been highly active with no fewer that nine Barcelona Supporters Club meetings. Spring is a popular time for such events because it is such a good time for outdoor activities.
It was mainly the Catalan clubs that picked the months of May and June for mass events, Supporters
clubs in Vallès, Tarragona Nord, Lleida Sud, Ponent Nord, Mareme and Girona have all had meetings
in recent weeks, as did the Xuntanza de Galícia, the Trobada de Castella i Lleó and the clubs in
the counties of Castellón.
XI Trobada de Penyes Barcelonistes de Castella i Lleó
The main events at the XI Trobada de Penyes Barcelonsites de Castella i Lleó were
organised in Medina del Campo (Valladolid) on May 24. The Peña Barcelonista Medinense, along with
the Coordinadora de Penyes de Castella i Lleó, organised a highly successful event.
The highlight was a gala supper at Hotel San Roque, attended by 300 people from a total of 43
supporters clubs. FC Barcelona was represented by director Jacint Borràs, Social Commission
director Xavier Bagués and former player Julio Alberto Moreno. There was a morning reception in the
town hall and a debate was then held to deal with current club issues.
XVII Xuntanza de peñas barcelonistas galegas
On Sunday May 25 d Marín (Galicia) was the venue for the XVII ‘Xuntanza de penyes
barcelonistas galegas’. Both in terms of attendance and content, the event was a major
success.
Naturally enough, the stars of the show were the twenty supporters clubs that made there way
to Marín. In representation of FC Barcelona we had director Jacint Borràs, and Social Commission
director Josep Ignasi Macià and former handball player Andrei Xepkin. They were joined by Francisco
Veiga, the mayor of Marín; Francisco de Castro, delegate of the Consell Consultiu de Penyes; and
Salvador Cerviño, president of the Penya Barcelonista de Marín.
The town mayor held a reception to welcome the FC Barcelona representatives and the
supporters clubs and set the day’s events in motion. Mayor Francisco Veiga spoke about
everything that Barça represents and the social commitments shown by its people. “Let’s
hope future Xuntanzas can be celebrated with as many victories as possible”, he said. Then
Jacint Borràs thanked the town hall for all of their collaboration with the Penya Barcelonista de
Marín in the organisation of the Xuntanza.
Several activities followed, such as a parade accompanied by the Municipal Orchestra, a trip
in a boat and a concert given by the same band, followed by a fellowship supper and all concluded
with the official speeches. It was then that Jacint Borràs reminded all those in attendance that
“we support Barça whether we win or lose”, words that were met with a loud cheer. The
Barça director then went on to speak of such concepts as “solidarity and commitment”.
III Trobada de Penyes de Lleida Sud
Linyola was the centre of Barça support in the counties of Lleida on may 31. Bojan’s
home town was the venue for the III Trobada de Penyes de Lleida Sud with was attended by over 300
Barcelona supporters club members.
The organisers had arranged a host of activities to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the
Penya Barcelonista de Linyola. The Town Hall held a reception for the authorities and also gave a
highly interesting speech. The gala supper brought the day to a dramatic close, and in
representation of FC Barcelona it was honoured by the presence of director Jacint Borràs, as well
as Social Commission director, Josep Ignasi Macià and former player Julio Alberto Moreno.
X Trobada de Penyes de Castelló
The town of Artana was the setting on May 31 for an unforgettable day for Barcelona
supporters. It was there that local supporters clubs gathered to show their enthusiasm and support
for the club, as well as their optimism for the future on occasion of the 10th Anniversary of the
Penya Barcelonista d’Artana.
Social Commission director, Xavier Bagués and former handball player Andrei Xepkin were
joined throughout the day by 200 Barça fans that had made their way to Artana.
After an impressive fireworks show, Rudy Ventura started playing his trumpet to call
everybody in for a delicious gala supper. The authorities making a show included the local mayor,
Enrique Vilar and a Vila-real player from Artana, Bruno Soriano.
XIX Trobada de Penyes del Vallès
The Vallès supporters clubs held their annual festival on June 1. The Penya Blau-grana La
Llagosta was the host in commemoration of their 25th Anniversary. The president, Marcel Farré, and
his board of directors had arranged for a whole series of events, and not even the heavy rain
dampened the spirits.
The fellowship supper in the Pavelló Municipal gathered more than 200 people, and the
atmosphere was terrific. Director Jacint Borràs led the expedition, accompanied by Social
Commission director, Marc Carrasco, and former player Julio Alberto Moreno.
III Trobada de Penyes de Ponent Nord
The events involved in the
III Trobada de Penyes de Ponent Nord took place in the town of last June 7. In representation of FC
Barcelona were director Antoni Rovira at the head, joined by Social Commission director, Enric
Nadeu and ex player Julio Alberto.
The Penya Blau-grana Ponts i Comarca used the event to commemorate their 25th Anniversary.
The most interesting items on the agenda included a debate about the current goings on at the club,
a reception in the Ponts town hall and a gala supper attended by more than 20 different supporters
clubs.
VII Trobada de Penyes de Tarragona Nord
More than 200 Barça fans and 20 supporters clubs were there on June 8 for the VII Trobada de
Penyes de Tarragona Nord. Montblanc was the place chosen to celebrate such an important event, and
in honour of the local history and traditions a guided visit was given for the supporters clubs and
the authorities.
The fellowship dinner was held in an emblematic venue, the ancient church of Sant Francesc.
It was there that FC Barcelona were represented by Jacint Borràs, Social Commission director Xavier
Bagués, and former handball player Andrei Xepkin along with the president of the Agrupació Barça
Veterans, Ramon Alfonseda.
