Barça and Fellowship in Euskadi

On Saturday, October 18, on occasion of the first team’s trip to Bilbao, the Basque Country’s supporters clubs gathered for a fellowship supper, which was attended by vice-presidents Alfons Godall and Rafael Yuste plus director Xavier Bagués.
Inauguration of Penya Barcelonista Vitoria-Gasteiz Euskobarça headquarters
On occasion of the first team’s trip to Bilbao, the Penya Barcelonista Vitoria Gasteiz
Euskobarça, one of the biggest supporters clubs in the Basque Country, inaugurated its new home
base. The event was attended by vice-presidents Alfons Godall and Rafael Yuste, along with director
Xavier Bagués, who were welcomed by a performance of the Txalaparta, a traditional Basque
instrument, and then opened the new centre.
In the speeches, Alfons Godall congratulated the club on their new headquarters, which is
decorated with all kinds of vintage Barça shirts, and dedicated some words to the delegate to the
Euskadi Advisory Council, Patxi Martínez, and everybody else present in representation of different
supporters clubs, in gratitude for the support they have always shown for Barça sentiments. The
event concluded with the traditional exchange of gifts.
Fellowship supper with Basque supporters clubs
Around 10.00 in the evening, and at the “Sociedad Gastronómica Azkenean” a
fellowship supper was held for all the Basque supporters clubs and other directors attending in
representation of the club. 5 of the 9 currently active clubs and that comply with the
region’s regulations were present: the hosts from Vitoria-Gasteiz, the Penya Indarra Barça,
from Durango, the Penya d’Irun, and 2 recently formed but highly active clubs in Penya
Blaugrana de Donosti and Penya Barcelonista Tolosarra. About 100 guests were there in all and the
supper involved a delightful range of typical Basque dishes.
Rafael Yuste, before supper commenced, spoke to those in attendance and welcomed them with
some words of thanks for all the work they have done for the club from so far away. He ended with
the heartfelt words “Visca el Barça, Visca Euskadi and Visca les Penyes Barcelonistes
d’Euskadi.
Proposed candidature to organise next World Supporters Club Meeting
The Penya Blaugrana de Donosti, despite being so young, took advantage of the event and the
presence of FCB representatives to announce that they will be presenting a candidature to host the
next World Supporters Club Meeting.
The club presented a dossier containing all the information necessary to be accepted as a
valid contender to host the prestigious event.
Right now, the club has already received one other candidature in the form of that presented
by the Penya Barcelonista Urgellenca, from Seu d’Urgell
