Legendary Barcelona keeper Salvador Sadurní was honoured last 30 November in his home town of l’Arboç. The “Salvador Sadurní” Supporters’ Club celebrated its 15th anniversary with a great tribute to the man known as “Xato”
The “Salvador Sadurní” Supporters’ Club at l’Arboç organised a Barça day at
which the star was the ex-keeper the club was named after. Sadurní was honoured by friends,
ex-players, supporters’ club
members, Barça fans and
local people alike. Ex-players including legends such as Antoni Ramallets, Ferran Olivella, Martí
Vergés, Ramon Alfonseda and Chus Pereda all came along to support “Xato” on a very
special day for him.
FC Barcelona was represented by Board member Xavier Bagués and Social Commission director
Enric Nadeu at the event to pay tribute to the ex-player on the 15th anniversary of the
supporters’ club.
The event was also attended by the Mayor of l’Arboç, Joan Planas, accompanied by Jordi
Jané, vice-president of the Lower House Committee, and Senator Josep Maldonado.
Xavier Bagués calls for caution
Barça’s recent results and in particular the away win at Seville had put everyone in a
very good mood. Barça director Xavier Bagués, however, called for caution in the good times and
pointed out that everyone had to pull in the same direction to achieve goals at the end of the
season.
Bagués also spoke about Salvador Sadurní and congratulated the supporters’ club on the
hard work it does for Barça in and around l’Arboç.
Exhibitions and visit to l’Arboç’s Bell Tower
A number of events were held to mark the anniversary before lunch for 150 Barça supporters.
The Cultural Centre hosted an exhibition of photos, while later on there was an interesting visit
to l’Arboç’s Bell Tower which is one of the symbols of the town. This impressive
structure was put up a hundred years ago and has recently
been refurbished.
Many supporters’ clubs from l’Anoia, Penedès and Garraf, together with their
delegate, Jordi Abellán, came along to lend their support to local club chairman Francesc Robles.
