The Penya Barcelonista d’Artesa de Segre and county held a huge party to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
On April 18 at Artesa de Segre (Lleida) the local supporters club celebrated its silver
anniversary, an occasion that doubled as the meeting for clubs in the Ponent Nord region.
The town was decked out in
the Barça colours for the celebrations and the partying was all day long. FCB itself was
represented by vice president Jaume Ferrer, who inaugurated the new club headquarters while he was
there.
Lunch with the authorities
The local authorities joined the club members in the local pavilion, and after that, Josep
Baró, President of the Penya Barcelonista d’Artesa de Segre, started the speeches, where he
said that “love for this club has to be cultivated every day”, and added how proud he
felt about the way the day had gone and how pleased he was to welcome so many fellow supporters
clubs.
Pere Mentruit, Delegate of the Supporters Clubs Advisory Council, explained how important the
supporters clubs are for the the Barça movement and also encouraged members to carry on the good
work. Finally, Jaume Ferrer thanked
the fans, and the supporters
clubs in particular, for their undying support for Barça. “Barça would be nothing without
them” he said. Mingo Sabanés, the local mayor, finished his speech by thanking Barça for
coming to join the festivities.
The local Orfeó Artesenc ended the day with a performance of the Barça anthem.
The cups take centre stage
One of the most important moments of the day was the presentation of the 6 cups won last
season by the football team, plus the two won by the basketball team. Several of the guests made a
point of being photographed with the silverware.
