The Ametlla de Mar Supporters Club celebrated its 25th anniversary in the presence of Club vice-president Jordi Cardoner during the 12th gathering of penyes of Baix Ebre, Montsià and Baix Maestrat.
As part of the Festa Major celebrations of the town the Ametlla de Mar Penya celebrated its 25th
anniversary in an atmosphere charged with Barça feelings. The vice-president of the Social Area,
Jordi Cardoner, ex-players such as Josep Seguer or Carles Rexach and from the Fundació del Barça,
Josep Maldonado, were amongst the Barça figures who came along to the event. Jordi Cardoner’s
grandfather Nicolau Casaus inaugurated the Penya 25 years ago and he declared: “it’s an
honour to be here, kowing that 25 years ago my grandfather was here inaugurating this club.
I’ll leave Ametlla with very personal and emotional memories”.
Commemorative Plaque
A commemorative plaque was unveiled in the clubhouse and the penya’s
President Jordi Brull declared: “it’s an honour to be able to preside over this event.
The club has gone through some bad times but now we have to take it even further and get more
members. Hosting the gathering of clubs for this area is a good first step”.
Gathering of penyes
The 12th gathering of penyes of the Baix Ebre, Montsià and Baix Maestrat was attended by 24
clubs, who paraded through the streets of Ametlla de Mar and were then presented with a
commemorative medal by Sr Cardoner.
