Held in the hotel Silken San Jorge on Costa Brava the evening was overseen by Valentí Guardiola,
father of first-team coach Pep, former president of Barça's management commission, Joan Trayter,
and Joan Casals, Avi del Barça. Lluís Grau, representative of the council for Supporters Club's in
Girona North, was also there along with Josep M. Fuster and Pau Garcia Castany, who represented the
Agrupació Barça Veterans, the Mayoress of Platja d'Aro, Dolors Padilla, and the Mayor of Calonge,
Jordi Soler.
After a period of inactivity this supporters club has returned and is healthy once again.
Urruti was the patron of the penya when it first started, and now his sons Ibon and Erik González,
have this position. On this occasion, the evening began with a talk opened by Mayor Soler, which
lead to dinner as final celebration.
Exciting days for the penyes movement
During his speech, Mr Lee remarked on the great run of form that FC Barcelona have enjoyed
over the past few seasons. The promise of the current board to continue to maintain and improve the
club and increase their presence in the world was also reiterated. Mr Lee also outlined the effort
made by the club to help supporters’ clubs such as the Supporters Clubs' Congress on the same
day as the Trofeu Joan Gamper game, the outstanding organisation of the XXXIII Trobada Mundial, the
opening of the FCB Supporter Services Office, and also the first steps of projecte Penyes Segle XXI
so as to put supporters’ clubs at the level they deserve.
Mayoress Padilla admitted not being a great football fan, despite considering herself a
follower of FC Barcelona. She highlighted in her speech the values the club transmits through its
work, effort, humility and honesty. On a local level she also focussed on the work done to bring
the community together and the importance that the club has within it.
