The finals of the VI International FC Barcelona Supporters Clubs 7-a-Side Tournament were played
today, with the semi finals and finals being played from five o’clock. PB Malena won the
Alevín trophy by beating PB de Caracas 4-1 in the final. The younger Benjamín competition was won
by the Agrupació de Penyes de Barcelona who beat PB Bella Otero 3-2.
The winning teams received their trophies directly from the vice president of the FC
Barcelona Social Area, Jordi Cardoner, the head of the Social Commission, Pau Vilanova, and the
director of FCB Escola, Julio Alberto Moreno. The
Barcelona vice president also gave a speech, where he said that
“everyone has won this tournament, for the experience of playing on the FC Barcelona
facilities is something very few people get to enjoy”.
Record turnout
One of the success stories of this year’s event was the massive representation
involved. More than 400 young players in 35 teams were stars of a wonderful weekend at the Ciutat
Esportiva Joan Gamper. The director of FCB Escola, Julio Alberto Moreno, said “we should
stress the impeccable behaviour of all the teams. This tournament is another way of helping to
build Barça”. It was also important that the supporters clubs taking part included teams from
as far away as Korea and Venezuela.
All enjoyment at Festa Barça
The participants in the International FC Barcelona Supporters Clubs 7-a-Side Tournament were
also able to enjoy the Festa Barça as well as an intense weekend of football. The youngsters took
part in all kinds of activities and were also able to attend the inauguration supper of the XXXIVa
World Supporters Clubs Meeting.
