Last September 11, the Peña Barcelonista de Móstoles organised a four-team charity competition in benefit of Unai Hontiyuelo.
The Peña Barcelonista de Móstoles’ tournament was held to raise money against meningitis.
Supported by the Councillor for Sport in that town near Madrid and in collaboration with the
Fundación Irene Megías against meningitis, the Villafontana arena was packed to pay tribute to Unai
Hontiyuelo.
Unai was diagnosed with meningococcal sepsis at the age of eight, with caused the loss of
both of his legs. The boy from Valladolid is a passionate football fans and the Peña Barcelonista
de Móstoles organised this competition to honour the way he has fought to make the most of his
life.
The Peña Barcelonista de Móstoles, the Peña Barcelonista de Valladolid, Aluchos FS de Madrid
and the Escuela de Fútbol Sala Paco Sedan took part in the tournament where the real winners were
the Hontiyuelo family. With funds donated by Valladolid City Council, the Community of Castile-La
Mancha, and profits raised from a raffle, the money raised was presented to the Hontiyuelo family
to help them with the expenses for looking after their son.
César Fernández, director of the FC Barcelona Sports Commission, was also present at such a
special event. This initiative is yet another example of the way our supporters clubs form part of
the social network around the country and are always ready to dedicate their efforts to worthy
causes.
