On the second floor of the FC Barcelona Museum can be found the ’50 years of the Blaugrana beat’ exhibition, a display that looks back over the 50-year of Camp Nou, one of the main symbols of the Catalan club.
'50 year of the Blaugrana beat', which is due to be inaugurated soon, is not just any exhibition.
It is a tribute that the FC Barcelona Museum wanted to show as a dedication to the first
half-century of the stadium. The unique arena that has been at the centre of Barcelonismo since
1957 has produced an exhibition that goes beyond what visitors are accustomed to seeing in the
museum. It will make a real impact as the second floor of the museum as has been transformed in a
space of visual and oral sensation.
The exhibition contains five different areas, called dimensions that show many facets of the
Blaugrana stadium. In the first part, entitled 'Playing at home', the concept of the stadium is
looked at in its purest sense. A passion for sport throughout history at the club is shown in a
specially designated corner that looks back at the club's previous homes.
'A collective project' is the area where the popularity of the club is shown as more and more
fans attending games at Les Cortes meant that the plans for a new stadium were drawn up. The
details of the construction form part of the area known as 'An architectural project' where the
original plans can be seen in al their glory.
'The Camp Nou Live' is an area of sensual experience. A stadium packed to the rafters with
the smell of the pitch and the Barça hymn booming out are all sensations that can be experienced in
this part of the exhibition.
The final dimension of the display is 'The football fiesta', which outlines the final goal of
why the stadium was built. Different screens show memorable moments, historical goals and
incredible moves that have the Camp Nou has seen.
