Outgoing FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta wished his successor Sandro Rosell luck as the two chatted during the handing over ceremony on Thursday.
After seven years at the helm Laporta’s
mandate
came to an end as the Rosell era began and he wished the new incumbent all the best.
“As the outgoing president I would like to say that we leave feeling content and happy with
the job we have done and the results we have achieved,” Laporta said. “Barça is
enjoying the best time in the club’s history. What is more is that it is a Catalan club that
is open to the world and solidarity and we have expressed that through the Fundación.”
Best of luck
“I am sure that we will all agree that today is an important day and an act of
celebration,” Laporta continued. “I understand that today is an important day for the
incoming president. I want to thank everyone that has helped Barça to become the best in history
and I wish president Rosell the best with all my heart.”
Rosell then stepped forward and gave his first speech as president of FC Barcelona.
