Edmilson returns in Anoeta
Miriam Nadal
José Edmílson returned to the FC Barcelona team at the weekend after missing the last four games through injury and was delighted to have come through the encounter against Real Sociedad without any problems.
The Brazilian international appeared in the victory in Anoeta to mark his comeback after being
sidelined since the game against Depor at the end of March. A thigh strain saw miss the matches
against Real Zaragoza, Real Mallorca, Villarreal and Levante.
Starting out
With Deco out of action with a blow the ankle, coach Frank Rijkaard was able to call upon the
services of both Edmílson and Thiago Motta, and chose to pick the former to play in the defensive
midfield role.
A happy man
After the win, Edmílson admitted that he was in even better shape than he could have
predicted and said after the game that he was very
pleased
with the way things had gone.
1,623 minutes this season
Edmílson has made 23 appearances for Barça this season, 20 of them from the start. He has
been involved in 14 wins and of the matches when he was named in the starting side, the team
Blaugrana have lost only twice; against Espanyol and Valencia.
At this stage of the campaign, it is vital that FC Barcelona have every member of the squad
available.
