Bojan Krkic has been included in the first team squad for the first time by Frank Rijkaard for an official game as the Dutchman named all 18 players at his disposal for the trip to play Osasuna this weekend.
Following the break in the league for international games, Barça travel to Pamplona for the
encounter on Sunday in the Reyno de Navarra. Rijkaard has named all the players that are fit and
the list includes Krkic as well as Eidur Gudjohnsen, who has been named for the first time this
season after recovering from an injury.
New faces
Krkic's inclusion sees the 17-year-old travel with the first team for
the first time to an official encounter. The club's youth team product returned from the Under-17
World Championship this week, after spending almost six weeks in Korea with the Spain side. Krkic
did participate in the Blaugrana's mini tour of Scotland in early August and impressed.
Gudjohnsen is another new face for the game as the Icelandic international was only given the
green light to play again on Monday after recovering from the knee injury that saw saw him
sidelined in pre-season.
Five players out
One player who is missing is
Leo Messi
as he returned from playing in Argentina's friendly against Australia in Melbourne with a calf
injury. Samuel Eto'o, Edmílson and Carles Puyol are the other three players missing. While the rest
of the squad enjoyed a final training session on Saturday, Messi continued working on his
individual recovery programme.
Rafael Márquez could also not been included in the squad after he was sent off in Barça's
last league game against Athletic Club two weeks ago, having received two yellow cards. The Mexican
did participate in training, however.
